About us

Cottonwood Creek Behavioral Hospital provides behavioral health services for high-acuity and complex-need patient populations in Idaho. Our 92-bed inpatient hospital supports adolescents 12-17, and adults 18 and older struggling with mental health crises. More specifically, we help to stabilize and keep individuals safe when they’re experiencing active thoughts of harming themselves, harming others, active psychosis or are gravely disabled due to their mental health. Alongside our hospital, Cottonwood Creek Wellness Center offers intensive, outpatient behavioral health services in the Treasure Valley. We serve adults and adolescents (12 and older) who struggle with their mental health and require more enhanced services than traditional outpatient therapy can offer. Our outpatient program is person-centered and strengths-based, and our skilled team of clinicians are trauma-informed and focused on supporting positive outcomes for our clients. Our goal is to successfully transition our clients to lowering levels of care, such as individual counseling, and create hope, health and wellness in the lives of individuals we serve. Additionally, Cottonwood Creek Wellness Center also offers Interventional Psychiatric Services as a specialty or ancillary outpatient service to our clients. These services are only offered to adults, 18+ years of age, and include Modern Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Spravato Clinics. These interventions are especially effective in combating treatment resistant diagnoses, such as depression.

  • 🌟2024 Idaho Academy of Physician Assistants (IAPA) Annual Meeting & CME Conference! 🌟 We were delighted to sponsor the 2024 IAPA conference, where our very own psychiatrist, Dr. Jacob White, shared insights on Modern Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) – a vital service we offer at our hospital. The turnout was fantastic, with engaged attendees asking insightful questions. Modern ECT is brain-stimulating therapy done under general anesthesia, in which patients experience an intentional, brief seizure. It is administered by our board-certified psychiatrists and our team of medical professionals. Commonly treated diagnoses include Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar, Catatonia and other Mood Disorders. Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurance accepted. Here's to fostering collaboration and innovation in healthcare! #2024IAPAConference #HealthcareInnovation #ECT #PhysicianAssistants

  • 🌟 Celebrating Social Worker Month with Makenna! 🌟 Meet Makenna, a compassionate Licensed Master Social Worker at Cottonwood Creek Behavioral Hospital. Q: Introduce yourself and tell me what inspired you to be a social worker. A: My name is Makenna and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker at Cottonwood Creek Behavioral Hospital. My experiences with mental health, as well as the experiences of my family and friends, inspired me to go into social work. I empathize with how difficult it can be to ask for help, and want to my patients to feel safe and supported in their mental health journey. Q: Can you share a memorable experience or success story from your career? A: I worked in Utah for a year with children who are in foster care, adoptive families, and children who have experienced trauma and/or abuse. While it was challenging at times, the clients I worked with left a lasting impression on me, and I enjoyed watching their growth throughout their engagement in therapeutic services. Q: What is most rewarding about being a social worker? A: The most rewarding part of being a social worker is seeing the transformation people go through. At Cottonwood, patients often come in and are at one of the lowest points in their life. When they discharge, it is amazing to see the change in their demeanor and headspace, as well as the empowerment they have to implement positive changes in their life. Q: What is the most challenging about being a social worker? A: For me, the most challenging part of being a social worker is balancing patient care and self-care. While social work is rewarding, it can also be demanding and emotionally draining. In order to help others effectively, it is essential to care for one’s own needs, whether that be maintaining boundaries or making time for things one enjoys. Q: What advice would you give someone hoping to pursue a career in social work? A: I encourage those pursuing a career in social work to find your niche or passion, and pursue that area of social work. Social work is very diverse and offers many avenues for growth and fulfillment. In doing this, you promote your own goals and interests, while also making a positive difference in the lives of others.
